According to an Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) press release, in January to September of 2016, the amount of 453 trillion rupiahs in domestic and foreign investment (excluding oil and gas, banking, non-bank financial institution, insurance, leasing and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)) was realised. This amount is 13.4 per cent higher than the amount of realised domestic and foreign investment in the same period of 2015 . From this amount, 65.1 per cent is contributed by foreign investors. Therefore, the government under the leadership of President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo has committed itself to making foreign investment more attractive, inter alia , by reforming policies and regulations.
